
Jacy Whitehead
BA in Special Education
After graduating with honors from Indiana University with a BA in Special Education, Jacy began her career as an educator with teenagers on The Navajo Reservation. For the past 17 years, she has worked with diverse populations in a variety of learning environments including elementary, middle, and high school in Indiana, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Matto Grosso, Brazil.
Since 2006, Jacy has been teaching at WESLI, an intensive English program for international adults, as an ESL instructor. Aside from teaching courses in the four core areas, she has also created a specialized, hotel-based English learning program for immigrants at The Concourse Hotel as well as planned and implemented survival English curriculum for immigrants in her community. Jacy is also a teacher trainer in WESLI’s partner school, WTTP, certifying people to teach English overseas. In the accredited TEFL program, she assists with curriculum development, facilitating courses, and mentoring student teachers.
Most recently, Jacy has been consulting with the VRDevelopment Group by integrating her knowledge of disability issues and cultural awareness for courses available through their partner LMS, VRDG.
