Professional Burnout, Fatigue, and Trauma - Course for VR Professionals

Course Purpose:

This course is designed to address how professional burnout, fatigue, and trauma can impact those working in Vocational Rehabilitation (VR). Professionals often feel alone or isolated in their struggles. This course aims to assist professionals in identifying the stages they may be experiencing on the job and provides three strategies to foster resiliency.

Course Structure:

The course consists of a video presentation and a quiz, offering one hour of CRC or ACVREP credits upon completion.

Presenter:

Kelly Franklin

Kelly Franklin is the Director of VR Projects and Services at the Center for Continuing Education in Rehabilitation, University of Washington. With extensive experience in VR, Kelly provides both personal and professional advice and support to address issues of professional burnout, fatigue, and trauma.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completing this course, you will:

  • Understand the signs and symptoms of professional and personal burnout.
  • Understand the signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue that impact professionals.
  • Understand the signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma.
  • Learn the key to bouncing back or dealing with burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma.
  • Understand three specific strategies that foster resilience.

This course aims to provide VR professionals with the tools and knowledge needed to recognize and effectively address the challenges of professional burnout, fatigue, and trauma, promoting a healthier work environment and personal well-being.
