Universal Design for Learning: Planning Flexible and Inclusive VR Services
Course Description:
The educational framework of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) was defined in the Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 and reiterated in the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015. These federal statutes emphasize UDL's core principles, focusing on how individuals learn and express their learning. Rooted in neuroscience research, UDL offers strategies for designing inclusive VR services by considering how information is represented, how learners express their understanding, and how they engage with the content.
In this webinar, Dr. Frances Smith, CVE, will discuss the core UDL principles and strategies crucial to the UDL framework. She will explore differences between UDL, universal design, and assistive technology. Participants will also discover free online resources and tools to support the integration of UDL into learner-centered assessment, planning, and instruction.
